Mother's Day

Mother's day was last weekend, however, I've been a little busy and haven't had the opportunity to upload what I ended up making for my mom. I decided to make her a shadow box and necklace.

I ended up getting a deal at Michael's on the shadow boxes... three for $12! The rest of the supplies I had previously purchased. I had chipboard that I had bought at the scrapbook expo, and I chose to distress them...

These are the pieces before I did anything to them. I wanted to do something that was beachy since my mom loves the beach.
This chipboard was used for the picture. I used Tim Holtz distressing ink and used a green and blue palate, with "vintage" marks.

This is a more detailed picture of the chipboard. I didn't distress the middle because the picture is going to cover it up.

This is the finished product! Everything was distressed, and then I bought netting at JoAnn's for a little touch of the sea! (It's in the bottom right corner)

These are pictures of both sides of the necklace that I made for my mom. Once again, carrying on with a beach theme. The pictures are a little blurry, but she loved the necklace!

As a side note: the lightning won against boston last night, 5-2! Go bolts! Classes start back up tomorrow... so goodbye short-lived summer, see you again in july!

Brittney's Birthday!

Tonight is Brittney's birthday dinner at Hamburger Mary's... mmm! I ended up getting her a few scrap supplies and a book. We're English Ed Majors, a book seemed appropriate. I also decided to make her birthday card (the pictures below) I didn't do anything real fancy, just something simple, but I'm sure she'll appreciate it... and I hope she likes my gifts too!

So this is how I bought the set of cards...

This is what the card looked like when I was all done! Not very complicated, but simple and colorful :)

Now, I get to crack open The Last Hunt which is the fourth book in The Unicorn Chronicles by Bruce Coville.... I'll make sure to remain updated throughout my reading... it's a rather large book!

Just an update:

I'm out of school until the 16th of May, and then it's back to "the grind."ha. But I'm still scrapping and creating new things! I have my friend's birthday wednesday, and I've decided to make her birthday card. And... mother's day is right around the corner and I'm soldering her a piece of jewelry, and making her a shadow box.

Crafts, crafts, crafts!

Scrapping

In addition to the things I love... scrapping is one of them. It wasn't until more recently that I decided to pick up the hobby, and since, I have become addicted. Through out this blog, in addition to posting things that I love, I'm also going to post pictures of my own. The following two scrapping projects were done for my LAE4464 class:

This SISTER scrapbook was made as a companion to the book "Identical" by Ellen Hopkins. Making this scrapbook was a blast (like scrapping always is) and I MUST recommend Ellen Hopkins books. They're addicting, raw, and fantastic!
This is the first time I've ever distressed. I used Tim Holtz' distress ink pads and went to work. The stamps on the CD cover are from his collection too.... I love his line! This CD was made as my creative revisiting for LAE4464.

First Entry.

After completing a PLN for my LAE4464, Adolescent Lit. class, I was inspired to start my own. I'm not planning on maintaining this for any other use than my own (and possibly others) enjoyment. For any followers, I hope you find my [future] page interesting.

A picture (and artist) I just love:
